Description

These chewy Apple Brownies combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and juicy apple chunks in a buttery blondie-style dessert. Perfect for fall baking and easy enough for any day you crave something sweet and spiced.


Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup light brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup peeled and finely chopped apples

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.

3. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix well.

4. Stir in cinnamon and salt, then add flour and mix just until combined.

5. Fold in chopped apples and nuts if using.

6. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.

7. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.

8. Let cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For best flavor, use tart apples like Granny Smith.

Do not overmix the batter after adding flour to keep the texture chewy.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temp or freeze for up to 2 months.
