Description

These Best Mashed Sweet Potatoes are creamy, naturally sweet, and the perfect cozy side dish for weeknight dinners or festive holiday spreads. With simple ingredients and comforting flavor, they’re a must-make for any table.

Ingredients

3 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup heavy cream or milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

1. Place peeled and cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot. Cover with water and bring to a boil over high heat.

2. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.

3. Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot. Let sit uncovered for a few minutes.

4. Mash with a masher or hand mixer. Add butter, cream, salt, pepper, and optional flavorings.

5. Continue mashing until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.

6. Serve warm with an extra pat of butter on top.

Notes

Let sweet potatoes sit after draining to remove excess water.

Use a hand masher or mixer for best texture—avoid food processors.

Add maple syrup or spices to match the flavor profile of your meal.
