Golden, buttery, and impossibly tender, these Butter Swim Biscuits are baked in a pool of melted butter for a crispy-bottomed, fluffy-centered biscuit that’s ridiculously easy to make. Perfect for breakfast spreads, cozy dinners, or anytime comfort food cravings hit.
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 450°F. Pour melted butter into an 8×8 or 9-inch square baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
3. Add the buttermilk and mix until just combined (the dough will be sticky).
4. Spoon dough into the buttered pan and spread it evenly.
5. Score the dough into 9 squares using a knife.
6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
7. Let rest for a few minutes, then serve warm.
Notes
Use fresh baking powder for the best rise.
Don’t overmix the dough to keep biscuits light.
Score before baking to ensure easy slicing and portioning.
