This Cheesy Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole is the ultimate one-dish comfort meal with layers of savory beef, melty cheese, and golden-crisp tater tots. Perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings, it’s quick to prepare and even better the next day.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
0.5 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
0.5 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
0.5 cup sour cream
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
32 oz frozen tater tots
2 green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is soft.
2. Stir in garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook 1-2 more minutes.
3. Lower heat, mix in cream of mushroom soup and sour cream until smooth. Remove from heat.
4. Preheat oven to 375°F. Spread beef mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
5. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
6. Arrange tater tots evenly on top in a single layer.
7. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until tots are crispy and golden.
8. Add remaining 1 cup cheddar cheese and bake 5 more minutes until melted.
9. Garnish with green onions and serve warm.
Notes
Add chopped pickles or relish for extra cheeseburger flavor.
Try adding diced bell peppers or jalapeños for a spicy twist.
Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving to thicken the layers.
