Description

Soft, rich, and delightfully gooey, these Christmas Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies are the ultimate holiday treat. Made with cream cheese and a cake mix shortcut, they’re festive, fun, and irresistibly easy to make.


Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 egg

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 box (15.25 oz) vanilla cake mix

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup powdered sugar

Optional holiday sprinkles for decoration


Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth and fluffy.

2. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.

3. Gradually add the dry cake mix and salt, mixing until no dry streaks remain. Dough will be sticky.

4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour or overnight.

5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat each in powdered sugar. Add sprinkles if desired.

7. Bake for 10–12 minutes until puffed and just set at the edges.

8. Let cool on the sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Let butter and cream cheese come fully to room temperature before mixing.

Don’t skip chilling the dough—it prevents the cookies from spreading.

Double-roll in powdered sugar for the best snowy finish.
