Description
This Cranberry Orange Jam is a vibrant blend of tart cranberries and bright citrusy orange, sweetened just right and spiced with a hint of cinnamon. A perfect seasonal preserve for breakfast spreads, gifting, or adding a zingy twist to desserts and cheese boards.
Ingredients
3 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, orange juice, water, and sugar. Place over medium heat and bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
2. Once the cranberries begin to pop, reduce heat slightly and continue cooking for about 10–15 minutes. Use a spoon or potato masher to gently mash the berries.
3. Stir in orange zest and cinnamon (if using). Simmer for another 5 minutes until thickened to desired consistency.
4. Remove from heat and cool slightly before transferring to sterilized jars. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
You can substitute bottled orange juice if fresh isn’t available, but fresh is more flavorful.
Taste before cooling—if you prefer it sweeter, add a bit more sugar while still warm.
To test thickness, use the chilled plate test: a dab of jam should wrinkle when pushed.
