Description
This Easy Apple Pie delivers a buttery, flaky crust with a sweet, cinnamon-spiced apple filling. Perfect for cozy gatherings or whenever you crave a classic dessert that never goes out of style.
Ingredients
2 pre-made 9-inch pie crusts
6 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, diced
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
1. Place one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and chill while preparing the filling.
2. In a large bowl, mix apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and flour. Let sit 10 minutes.
3. Pour the apple mixture into the chilled pie crust and dot with butter. Cover with the second crust and crimp edges. Cut slits in top.
4. Whisk egg and milk together and brush over the top crust.
5. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 45–50 minutes, until golden and bubbly. Cover edges with foil if browning too fast.
6. Let cool for 2 hours before slicing to allow filling to set.
Notes
Letting the apples rest with sugar enhances flavor.
Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best depth.
Chill the pie before slicing for cleaner cuts.
