Description

A festive, moist holiday quick bread flavored with creamy eggnog, warm spices, and finished with a sweet glaze. Perfect for gifting, breakfast, or cozying up with a cup of tea.


Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup eggnog

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the glaze

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 to 2 tablespoons eggnog


Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

3. In a separate large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.

4. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in sour cream, eggnog, and vanilla.

5. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined.

6. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

9. Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled loaf. Let set before slicing.

Notes

Use full-fat eggnog for a richer flavor and texture.

Don’t overmix the batter—just combine until no dry streaks remain.

Check for doneness early, as oven times vary.
