Description
These From Scratch Brownies are the perfect homemade indulgence—fudgy in the center, with a crackly top and deep cocoa flavor. Easy to make in one bowl, and even easier to devour.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
2 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 ½ cups unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp vanilla extract
4 large eggs
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Stir in sugar and cocoa until smooth. Remove from heat.
2. Add salt, baking powder, and vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
3. Fold in flour until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips if using.
4. Pour into a greased or parchment-lined 9×13-inch baking dish.
5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Don’t overbake.
Notes
Use unsweetened cocoa powder for best results.
Avoid overmixing the batter to keep brownies soft.
Let brownies cool before cutting for cleaner edges.
