Description
This Gourmet Seafood Cassolette blends tender shrimp, scallops, and crab in a rich, creamy white wine sauce, topped with melted Gruyère and Parmesan. Elegant yet easy to make, it’s perfect for special dinners or indulgent nights in.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 leek, white and light green parts only, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
0.5 cup dry white wine
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Salt and pepper, to taste
0.5 lb scallops, cleaned
0.5 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
0.5 cup crab meat
0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
0.25 cup grated Gruyère cheese
0.25 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
1. In a skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped leeks until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
2. Deglaze the pan with white wine, scraping the bottom. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, then reduce heat and add cream and Dijon mustard. Let it thicken slightly, seasoning with salt and pepper.
3. Stir in shrimp, scallops, and crab. Cook gently until seafood is just done, about 3 minutes.
4. Preheat broiler. Transfer the mixture into ramekins or a baking dish. Top with cheeses and breadcrumbs.
5. Broil for 2–4 minutes until golden and bubbling.
6. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with crusty bread or salad.
Notes
Use high-quality seafood and pat it dry before cooking.
Don’t overcook the seafood to keep it tender.
Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for an extra layer of flavor.
