Description
Ground Beef Tostadas are a crunchy, flavor-packed meal perfect for any night of the week. With crispy tortillas, seasoned beef, creamy beans, and fresh toppings, they’re easy to make and endlessly customizable. Great for parties or family dinners.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup diced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tbsp homemade blend)
1/3 cup water
8 small corn tortillas or tostada shells
1 can (15 oz) refried beans
1 cup shredded lettuce
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
1/4 cup sour cream
1 avocado, sliced or mashed
1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add ground beef and brown it, breaking it apart. Drain excess fat if needed.
2. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer on low for 5 minutes, stirring until thickened.
3. Preheat oven to 400°F. Brush tortillas with oil, place on baking sheet, and bake 4-5 minutes per side until crisp. Or use store-bought tostada shells.
4. Warm refried beans in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally.
5. Spread warm beans on each tortilla. Add seasoned beef, then top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, avocado, and sour cream. Garnish with cilantro and lime.
Notes
For extra crisp, bake the tortillas until golden but not burnt.
Assemble just before serving to prevent soggy shells.
Add hot sauce or jalapeños if you love heat.
