Description
This KFC Coleslaw Copycat recipe captures the creamy, tangy, slightly sweet slaw we all love. Made with finely chopped cabbage and carrots in a silky buttermilk dressing, it’s the perfect side for fried chicken, BBQ, and more. Budget-friendly and better than store-bought!
Ingredients
8 cups finely chopped green cabbage
0.25 cup shredded carrot
2 tablespoons minced onion
0.5 cup mayonnaise
0.33 cup granulated sugar
0.25 cup buttermilk
0.25 cup whole milk
2.5 tablespoons lemon juice
1.5 tablespoons white vinegar
0.5 teaspoon salt
0.125 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Finely chop the cabbage and shred the carrot to match KFC’s signature small texture. Add the cabbage, carrot, and minced onion to a large bowl.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, buttermilk, milk, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper until completely smooth.
3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss well until everything is coated.
4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors meld and develop.
5. Stir well before serving and enjoy chilled.
Notes
Letting the coleslaw chill overnight really enhances the flavor.
Use a food processor for evenly fine chopping like KFC.
If your slaw seems watery after chilling, give it a good stir before serving.
