Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
2 teaspoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Cooked rice, for serving
Steamed or stir-fried vegetables (like broccoli, bell peppers, carrots)
Sliced green onions, for garnish
Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Break it up with a spatula and drain excess grease.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
3. Pour the sauce into the skillet with the beef and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes.
4. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry, then stir it into the beef mixture until the sauce thickens.
5. Portion cooked rice into containers, top with teriyaki beef and vegetables.
6. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving or storing.
Notes
Use lean ground beef to avoid a greasy sauce.
Add a splash of water when reheating to keep it moist.
Double the sauce if you like extra teriyaki glaze!
