Description

These perfect baked sweet potatoes are crispy on the outside and sweet and creamy inside. A simple, nutrient-packed side dish that’s easy to prep and full of flavor. Customize with your favorite toppings!

Ingredients

4 medium sweet potatoes

1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)

1 teaspoon coarse sea salt (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Wash and scrub sweet potatoes thoroughly. Pat dry with a towel.

3. Prick each sweet potato 4–5 times with a fork to let steam escape.

4. Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, if using.

5. Place directly on oven rack or a foil-lined baking sheet.

6. Bake for 45–60 minutes until fork-tender and caramelized.

7. Let cool slightly. Slice open and fluff the insides with a fork.

8. Add toppings like butter, cinnamon, sour cream, or savory options.

Notes

Choose sweet potatoes of similar size so they bake evenly.

Pricking the skins prevents them from bursting in the oven.

Skip the foil if you want crispier skins.
