Ingredients
4 cups cooked shredded chicken
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
30 Ritz crackers crushed
1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until fully combined.
3. Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
4. In a separate bowl, mix crushed Ritz crackers with melted butter until coated.
5. Sprinkle the buttery cracker mixture evenly over the casserole.
6. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, until hot and bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
7. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon paprika or dried thyme to the filling.
You can substitute cream of mushroom soup for a different twist.
If freezing, freeze without the cracker topping and add fresh topping before baking.
