Description

This Simply Sandwich Bread is your go-to homemade loaf—fluffy, golden, and soft, yet perfect for slicing. Whether you’re making breakfast toast or layered lunch sandwiches, this easy recipe delivers fresh, satisfying bread every time.


Ingredients

1 cup warm water (110°F)

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 ½ to 3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons neutral oil (canola or vegetable)


Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Add salt, oil, and 2 ½ cups of flour. Stir until a sticky dough forms. Add more flour if needed.

3. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.

5. Punch down the dough and shape into a log. Place in a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.

6. Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.

7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding.

8. Cool in the pan for 5–10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use bread flour for a higher rise and chewier texture if preferred.

Brush the crust with butter after baking for a softer top.

Store slices in the freezer with parchment in between for easy grab-and-go.
