Description

This Southern Sweet Potato Pie is a classic dessert with a silky, spiced filling made from real sweet potatoes and a flaky crust. Perfect for holidays or any time you crave a cozy slice of Southern tradition.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups mashed sweet potatoes

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup evaporated milk

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

Instructions

1. Peel and cube sweet potatoes, then boil until fork-tender (about 20 minutes). Drain and mash until completely smooth.

2. In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, melted butter, sugar, evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until silky and fully blended.

3. Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust, smoothing the top with a spatula.

4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50–60 minutes or until the center is set and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.

5. Let the pie cool for at least an hour before slicing. Serve at room temperature or chilled.

Notes

Use a food processor for the creamiest filling.

Let the pie cool fully before slicing for clean cuts.

You can freeze the pie for up to 2 months if tightly wrapped.
