Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup red and green sprinkles
1/4 cup crushed candy canes (optional)
Instructions
1. Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Mix in vanilla and almond extracts.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
4. Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
5. Fold in chocolate chips, sprinkles, and optional candy cane bits.
6. Chill dough for at least 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment.
7. Scoop dough into balls and place on sheets 2 inches apart.
8. Bake 9–11 minutes until edges are golden and centers are slightly soft.
9. Let cool 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
These cookies taste best the day after baking—if you can wait that long!
Use parchment paper for best texture and even baking.
Crushed candy canes melt slightly into the dough for a magical hint of mint.
