Description
This Best Homemade KFC Gravy is rich, smooth, and full of savory flavor that tastes just like the classic favorite. Made with a buttery roux, seasoned broth, and simple pantry spices, it is perfect for pouring over mashed potatoes, fried chicken, biscuits, or fries.
Ingredients
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the roux is smooth and lightly golden.
3. Slowly pour in the chicken broth, whisking constantly until smooth.
4. Add the beef broth and continue whisking until fully combined.
5. Stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and paprika.
6. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring often, until the gravy thickens.
7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
8. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, chicken, biscuits, or fries.
Notes
Whisk the broth in slowly to keep the gravy smooth and lump-free.
For an even silkier finish, strain the gravy before serving.
If the gravy thickens too much as it cools, whisk in a splash of warm broth before serving.
