Description
Cozy Winter Lattes are creamy, gently sweet, and filled with warm seasonal flavor from espresso, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and a hint of nutmeg. This easy homemade latte is perfect for cold mornings, holiday brunches, or quiet afternoons when you want something warm and comforting.
Ingredients
2 shots espresso or 1/2 cup very strong brewed coffee
1 1/2 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch nutmeg
whipped cream for topping
extra cinnamon for garnish
1 cinnamon stick optional for serving
Instructions
1. Brew the espresso or make the strong coffee and pour it into a mug or heatproof pitcher.
2. Add the milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg to a small saucepan.
3. Warm the mixture over medium-low heat until hot and steamy, stirring gently. Do not let it boil.
4. Remove from the heat and froth with a handheld frother, immersion blender, or whisk until lightly foamy.
5. Pour the espresso into one large mug or divide it between two smaller mugs.
6. Slowly pour the warm milk mixture over the coffee, then spoon the foam on top.
7. Finish with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a cinnamon stick if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use freshly brewed espresso or extra-strong coffee so the flavor does not get lost in the milk.
Warm the milk gently and do not boil it, or the texture can become flat instead of silky.
For the best foam, use whole milk or oat milk and froth right before serving.
