Description
Crispy Parmesan Crusted Broccoli Florets are the kind of side dish that can steal attention from the main course. The edges turn golden and crisp, the Parmesan adds a savory salty finish, and the broccoli stays tender enough inside to keep every bite satisfying. It is a simple way to make vegetables feel a little more exciting without a complicated prep process.
Ingredients
1 large head broccoli, cut into medium florets
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest, optional
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Wash the broccoli well, dry it thoroughly, and cut it into medium florets.
3. Place the broccoli in a large bowl, drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, and toss to coat.
4. In a separate bowl, mix the Parmesan cheese, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
5. Sprinkle the coating mixture over the broccoli and toss until the florets are evenly coated.
6. Arrange the broccoli in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between pieces.
7. Roast for 18 to 22 minutes, turning once halfway through, until the broccoli is tender and the coating is golden brown.
8. For extra crispiness, roast 2 to 3 minutes longer while watching closely.
9. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with lemon zest if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
Dry the broccoli very well before adding the coating so it roasts crisp instead of steaming.
Use freshly grated Parmesan for better melting and a richer savory crust.
Spread the florets out in a single layer so the edges brown properly.
