Description
Cute Crescent Roll Carrots are a playful, savory appetizer made with flaky crescent roll dough shaped like little carrots and filled with a creamy herb cheese mixture. They are perfect for Easter brunch, spring parties, or snack boards when you want something charming, easy, and crowd pleasing.
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Orange food coloring, as needed
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sour cream
1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Fresh parsley sprigs or dill, for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Wrap cream horn molds with foil if needed, then grease lightly. If you do not have molds, shape sturdy foil cones.
2. Stir the melted butter with a few drops of orange food coloring until evenly tinted.
3. Unroll the crescent dough, pinch seams together, and cut into long thin strips.
4. Brush the dough strips lightly with the orange butter.
5. Wrap each strip around a prepared cone, starting at the tip and overlapping slightly to create a carrot shape.
6. Place the wrapped cones on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
7. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden.
8. Let the shells cool for several minutes, then gently remove them from the molds and cool completely.
9. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, cheddar, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth.
10. Stir in the chives, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
11. Transfer the filling to a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped.
12. Pipe the filling into each cooled crescent shell.
13. Add a small parsley sprig or piece of dill to the open end of each one to create the carrot tops.
14. Chill briefly before serving if you want the filling to be firmer.
Notes
Let the pastry shells cool completely before filling so the cheese mixture stays thick and neat.
Foil cones work well if you do not have cream horn molds, just make sure they are tightly shaped.
For extra flavor, mix a little ranch seasoning or finely crumbled bacon into the filling.
