Description
This Most Amazing Apple Crisp is the ultimate cozy dessert—sweet-tart apples baked until tender, nestled under a golden-brown, buttery oat crumble. It’s everything you love about fall in one dish, and perfect with a scoop of ice cream.
Ingredients
6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith + Honeycrisp recommended)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
1. Peel and slice your apples into uniform pieces. Toss them in a large bowl with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apples. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling. Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for balanced flavor.
Keep the butter cold when mixing the topping—it creates the perfect crisp.
Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
