Oven-Baked Dumplings with Peanut Sauce

Oven-Baked Dumplings with Peanut Sauce

  • Author: Nina Klatten
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 30 dumplings

Description

Oven-Baked Dumplings with Peanut Sauce are crispy on the outside, juicy in the center, and packed with savory flavor in every bite. Baking makes them easier and less messy than frying, while the creamy peanut sauce adds the perfect balance of sweet, salty, tangy, and just a little heat.

Ingredients

12 ounces ground chicken

2 cups coleslaw mix

3 green onions, finely sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

30 dumpling wrappers

2 tablespoons olive oil or neutral oil for brushing

1/3 cup creamy peanut butter

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sriracha

2 to 4 tablespoons warm water

1 tablespoon lime juice

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken, coleslaw mix, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper until combined.

3. Place about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Lightly moisten the edges with water.

4. Fold the wrappers over the filling and press firmly to seal. Crimp the edges if desired.

5. Arrange the dumplings on the baking sheet and brush or spray the tops lightly with oil.

6. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until the dumplings are golden and cooked through. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes at the end if you want extra color.

7. While the dumplings bake, whisk together the peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, sriracha, warm water, and lime juice until smooth.

8. Add more warm water as needed to loosen the sauce to your preferred consistency.

9. Serve the dumplings warm with the peanut sauce for dipping.

Notes

Seal the wrappers tightly so the filling stays inside while baking.

Brush the tops with oil so the dumplings turn crisp and golden in the oven.

Add warm water to the peanut sauce little by little so it stays smooth and creamy, not too thick.
