PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps are packed with savory ground chicken, crisp water chestnuts, tender mushrooms, and a glossy homemade sauce, all tucked into cool, crunchy lettuce leaves for a fresh and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground chicken
1 small yellow onion finely diced
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger minced
1 cup mushrooms finely chopped
1 can water chestnuts drained and finely chopped
3 green onions sliced thin
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 head butter lettuce or romaine leaves separated and washed
1 teaspoon sesame seeds optional
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro optional
Instructions
1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked.
2. Stir in the diced onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant.
3. Add the chopped mushrooms and water chestnuts. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly softened.
4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, and sriracha.
5. In another small bowl, stir together the cornstarch and water until smooth.
6. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir to coat the chicken mixture evenly.
7. Add the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens and turns glossy.
8. Fold in the sliced green onions.
9. Spoon the warm filling into lettuce leaves and top with sesame seeds or chopped cilantro if desired.
10. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use butter lettuce for the easiest folding and the most tender bite.
Chop the vegetables finely so the filling cooks evenly and fits neatly into each lettuce leaf.
Keep the lettuce and filling separate until serving so the wraps stay crisp and fresh.
